The smoke

It smells disgustingly sweet.
Musty.
Deathly.
I'm tired of it.
It doesn't tire of anything.
All it does is linger.
Linger and tug at my sleeves.
Tries to take me to that day.
I hear the bells, feel the hot air around me as I walked down the hill to that place.

And I awake...and one day it happens again.
